Value of Play
MISSION
Play is a comprehensive learning process for children, not just a pastime. The impact on the development of a child’s character and education is treasured by the UN in the child’s right to play. However, a lack of playing and educational opportunities keeps many underprivileged children in India from developing their full potential.
We want to create awareness for the value of play in India and make opportunities to play for underprivileged children possible. To reach this goal we have teamed up with the Value of Play committee. Each of the members is an ambassador of children in his or her way. Together we will spot and develop resourceful charity projects or support NGOs for the well-being of the children in India.
ACTIVITIES 2017
Spielwarenmesse® initiated a panel discussion on 6th September 2017 among Toy industry leaders and prominent experts in child care which underlined the importance and impacts of play in a child’s life. The panel discussion established consensus that toys are one of the most integral aids to a child’s overall development that help shape aptitude and personality. It was pointed out that retailers could help parents make smart decision according to the child’s behavior, interest, intelligence, required social interaction with the play etc. and not merely based on the age or gender.
The topic was also highlighted and discussed upon at Kids India 2017 as one of the topics for Seminar and workshop with the visitors and exhibitors present the fair.
As every year, many exhibitors of Kids India generously donated their toys and other children products to an NGO called “Toybank” that supports socio- economically disadvantaged children with the wonderful joy of “PLAY” by creating toy and game libraries where these children are able to thrive as a child and express themselves with play.
